Trip.com Group’s ESG Report: 16 Million Choose Sustainable Travel

Trip.com Group has unveiled its fourth consecutive annual Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report, highlighting sustainability strides. Key findings underscore a notable preference for low-carbon products, with over 16 million customers opting for sustainable travel options in the past year.

Demonstrating environmental commitment, Trip.com Group introduced its 2023 low-carbon hotel standard initiative, collaborating with over 1,500 partners to enhance accommodation sustainability. Beyond eco-friendly measures, the company emphasizes a holistic approach to promoting sustainable travel, focusing on environmental, family-friendly, community-friendly, and stakeholder-friendly guidelines.

To stimulate growth in communities, Trip.com Group continues its investment in rural revitalization, increasing its Country Retreats from 8 to 27. Each retreat catalyzes local economic growth, with around 40 new B&Bs opening post-retreat completion, leading to a 122% YoY increase in B&B revenue.

Committed to family-friendly initiatives, the company maintains a gender-inclusive workplace, with over 60% female employees, surpassing industry averages. Trip.com Group prioritizes work-life balance and pioneered a “Hybrid Work Initiative,” benefiting two-thirds of its employees with work-from-home flexibility.

Collaborating with travel industry partners, Trip.com Group’s ‘Travel Mulan’ initiative focuses on increasing female engagement, supporting families, and aiding the travel industry’s recovery.

Transparency in corporate governance is a priority, evident in the increased proportion of independent directors and the establishment of an ESG Committee led by CEO Jane Sun. Looking ahead, Trip.com Group reinforces its sustainability commitment, aiming to create value for customers, industry partners, employees, and society.

CEO Jane Sun emphasizes the critical past year, working collaboratively to achieve sustainable development goals. The future entails exploring strategic approaches aligned with goals to enhance commercial and social value, fostering a more sustainable future.
